Three First Aid Steps for Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Carbon monoxide is colorless, odorless and if inhaled can cause headaches, nausea, dizziness, and even unconsciousness. In severe cases, it can result in death. If you encounter a suspected carbon monoxide poisoning situation, immediately take the following steps:

Turn off the water heater or other gas-fired equipment immediately and open a window to improve ventilation.

If you feel uncomfortable, go outdoors to breathe fresh air immediately and call 119 for emergency assistance.

If anyone stops breathing or their heart stops beating, stay calm and perform CPR.
